Fossa Ovalis Left Atrial Appendage Mitral Valve Pulmonary Vein Ostia Pulmonary Vein Distal Pulmonary Branches

Location:
Above left ventricle; blood enters via the pulmonary veins and exits through the mitral valve

Function:
Drains/pumps oxygenated blood from the lungs into the left ventricle

Importance in cardiovascular diseases:
Atrial arrhythmias; dilated in mitral valve disease; site of emboli formation in atrial fibrillation

Localización:
Por encima del ventrículo izquierdo; la sangre entra por las venas pulmonares y sale por la válvula mitral.

Función:
Drena / bombea sangre oxigenada desde los pulmones hacia el ventrículo izquierdo.

Importancia en las enfermedades cardiovasculares:
Arritmias auriculares; dilatado en patologías que afectan la válvula mitral; sitio de formación de émbolos en la fibrilación auricular.
