Location:
oval-shaped depression in the interatrial septum

Importance in cardiovascular diseases:
can have a congenital defect resulting in a right to left shunt called patent foramen ovale; fossa is also preferred site for transseptal puncture

Importance in device delivery:
devices to treat patent foramen ovale; inadvertent left placement of right heart devices

Localización:
área ovalada localizada en el septo interauricular

Importancia en las enfermedades cardiovasculares:
puede estar afectada por una anomalía congénita llamada foramen oval permeable causando cortocircuito de derecha a izquierda, la fosa es el sitio de elección para la punción transeptal

Importancia en implante de dispositivos:
dispositivos para el manejo de foramen oval permeable, implantación inadvertida de dispositivos del corazón derecho en cavidades izquierdas
