Echocardiography Tutorial
What is Echocardiography? Imaging Modalities Clinical Examinations using Cardiac Echocardiography Mitral Valve Aortic Valve Other Valve Images Text Version

The tricuspid valve has three leaflets, the anterior, septal, and posterior leaflets, that attach via chordae tendinae to three papillary muscles, which are similarly named the anterior, septal, and posterior. This structure is directly visualized from the right ventricle. An echocardiography image of the same tricuspid valve is then shown in a long axis view.

The pulmonary valve has three cusps, the left, right, and anterior. The pulmonary valve is viewed directly using endoscopes placed within the pulmonary artery. The same valve is then shown in a long axis view using a transthoracic echocardiography transducer.
