Using standard MR techniques and a 3T system, cardiovascular anatomy can be accurately quantified within a 0.5 mm x 0.5mm x 0.5 mm spatial resolution. CMR has been utilized to characterize changes in morphology/anatomy for various cardiovascular disorders including:

  • Hypertrophic/Dilatative cardiomyopathy
  • Ventricular aneurisms
  • Aortic dissection
  • Cardiac tumors
  • Congenital defects

In the diagnoses and prognosis of heart failure, CMR provides an accurate measure of global anatomical remodeling parameters such as:

  • Left and right ventricular mass (LVM and RVM)
  • End-diastolic volume (EDV)
  • End-systolic volume (ESV)
  • Left ventricular and right ventricular dimensions

These parameters are critical in determining the prognosis of a patient with heart disease.
